The Wound Care Technician (CNA) supports the wound care nurse and clinical team by assisting with resident preparation/positioning, supply management, routine skin observations, and documentation support. This role does not perform wound treatments and works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to promote skin integrity and support wound prevention efforts.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing (state registry) required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a long-term care/skilled nursing setting preferred (or willingness to train)
  • Current CPR certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire, per facility policy)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to follow facility policies/procedures and work under the supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Must pass background screening and pre-employment requirements per facility policy
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Able to multi-task, work independently and be extremely organized

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the wound care nurse during wound rounds by preparing residents (positioning, comfort measures, privacy).
  • Gather, organize, and restock wound care carts, treatment supplies, and related equipment.
  • Assist with setting up the treatment area to support efficient and timely wound care processes.
  • Support hygiene and incontinence care needs as directed to maintain skin integrity and reduce moisture-associated skin damage.
