Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Now Hiring: Medical Assistant — Facility Support

Homedica is seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Assistant (MA) to support our Nurse Practitioners providing medical services to patients residing in local nursing homes, Long Term Acute Care Hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the Baton Rouge, LA area.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time role supporting Homedica Nurse Practitioners
  • Work directly in one or more facilities in the Baton Rouge area
  • Monday–Friday schedule (day shift) — no nights, weekends, or major holidays
  • Collaborate closely with facility staff to ensure smooth care coordination

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist NP with patient visits (vital signs, medication reconciliation, etc.)
  • Support documentation and care coordination in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Help schedule patient visits and manage communication with facility nursing staff
  • Act as a liaison between the NP and facility staff to ensure timely follow-ups, labs, and care plan updates
  • Ensure smooth daily workflow, functioning as the NP’s clinical support partner

Qualifications

  • Active Medical Assistant certification
  • Experience in long-term care, home health, hospice, primary care or geriatrics a plus
  • Compassion for working with older adults and individuals with complex medical needs
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and patient service skills
