The Respiratory Manager organizes, leads, manages, and coordinates the activities of the Cardio-Pulmonary Department. He/She carries out policies and procedures consistent with JCAHO, OSHA, and state and local requirements. Responsibilities also include quality assurance, safety, infection control, overseeing blood gas lab, in-service for staff, ensures adequate budgeting and staffing is met, attends, contributes and participates in all committees as assigned by administration, as well as the management of employees and payroll for the cardio pulmonary department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Credentialed by the NBRC as a CRT or RRT
- Current license by the State Board of Respiratory Care Examiner
- Minimum of three years management experience in respiratory care, preferably in a LTACH
- Requires effective management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
RESONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality respiratory care services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Displays effective leadership.
- Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; ensures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
- Works intra and inter- departmentally to ensure cost effective utilization.
- Manages human resources to ensure quality services promote positive employee relations.
- Assesses and evaluates patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Develops, discusses and communicates a plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other in order to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to ensure accurate medication administration.
- Demonstrates competence in performance of procedures and utilization of equipment for medical management according to hospital policy and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of respiratory care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team to ensure quality care.
- Promotes infection control principles as identified in Hospital policy and procedure.
- Promotes environmental and patient safety.
