Clerical Support - INTERNAL

Department: St Joseph Hospice
Location: Lake Charles, LA

St. Joseph Hospice is hiring for an experienced Full-Time Clerical Support person to join our team!

We are looking for a customer-service focused individual who is dependable and able to multi-task in a very fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Can type at least 40-50 words per minute
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Ability to use a variety of office machines and office software programs
  • Willingness to obtain clerical skills and basic computer knowledge with hospice computer systems
  • At least one year experience in the healthcare field preferred
  • Experience in hospice setting and Home Care Home Base software preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Job Duties:

  • Add new material to file records, and create new records as necessary
  • Find and retrieve information from files in response to requests from authorized users.
  • Keep records of materials filed or removed, using logbooks or computers.
  • Modify and improve filing systems or implement new filing systems.
  • Perform periodic inspections of materials or files in order to ensure correct placement, legibility, and proper condition.
  • File a variety of materials as needed in appropriate resource
  • Scan or read incoming materials in order to determine how and where they should be classified or filed.
  • Sort or classify information according to guidelines such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order.
  • Track materials removed from files in order to ensure that borrowed files are returned.
  • Perform general office duties such as typing, operating office machines, and sorting mail.
  • Answer questions about records and files.
  • Routine clerical matters, including ensuring that documents flow in a coordinated and efficient manner; and answering telephones.
